3 c beets, cooked, sliced or diced 1/2 c sugar 1 t salt 2 T butter 1 T cornstarch 1/4 c vinegar or red wine 1/2 c water Mix the sugar, salt, cornstarch, and stir as you add the
vinegar and water. Cook the mixture 5 minutes or till it thickens a bit; add the beets and let stand half and hour. Before serving heat to boiling point and stir in the butter. |
