Microsoft German Spellchecker

Microsoft has released a free spellchecker for Word 6.0 or MS-Office 97, to accommodate the new Rechschreibreform. Please note that this one will not work with older Microsoft products.

How to install:

Save to the c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof\ directory. This one should already exist on your system containing the standard English spellchecker. You simply add another language by saving this file. There is no additional installing neccessary. Your default language will be US-English.

Simply select TOOLS, LANGUAGE, and SET LANGUAGE before you start writing a German document. Hint on editing a document already in German. Highlight the entire text, and then follow the previous step of setting a language.

The file on the German Corner is in a Pkzip compressed format and must be decompressed.
